In 1998 I had 11 operations in 12 months, with more to come at the beginning of 1999. I was in hospital for a total of four months during 1998.
During the winter/spring I was in Stockholm four times. In July I was in hospital in Boden for four weeks in a row. After that I had an operation every third week and stayed in hospital for a minimum of five days each time. At the end of October I was released after another long session of more than eight weeks in a row in the hospital in Boden.
Despite all this, I'm in pretty good shape mostly because I've had a tremendous support from my boyfriend and my mother. This disease is not anything I would wish upon my worst enemy since it's such a strain on one's social life as well as on one's mental health. I have had my ups and downs, but I'm too stubborn to give up!
You may now realize that your questions regarding what's wrong with me and why I am in hospital are not easy to answer on IRC. There is no short version that would make any sense unless you've known me for a long time and heard bits and pieces of the story over time. Also, I'm not happy with the idea of boring everyone by telling the same story over and over again. I'm not online to be complaining about my situation. I'm online to have fun and talk with my friends and try to forget about my situation for a short while.
I hope this has given most of the answers, and probably a lot more than you asked for. I hope you've learned something about a very rare disease. Knowledge is one of the greater meanings of life. If you still have any questions you are of course welcome to ask them, but make sure you've read this so I don't have to repeat things I've already spent time explaining.
Thanks for your time,
